Militia Belt Plate / SOLD

Beautiful example of a plate originally designed in the 1840’s and continued popularity with regiments into the early part of the Civil War.  Plate features a detailed widespread eagle with federal shield and star on breast.  The boarder exhibits a wavy oakleaf design with 12 additional stars.  The reverse retains the original belt loop and tongue devices.  Very attractive military belt plate. 

Comes housed in 6 inch x 8 inch riker display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
