Model 1855 Cartridge Box - Inventory number: LEA 203 / SOLD

Rare manufacturer: “G & D Cook and Co. / Makers / New Haven Ct.”  

Only 2,000 of these were contracted and supplied to the Union.  This example has a bold marking and retains both tin inserts.  The roller buckles are present one, detached.  The interior flap is marked “58” likely indicating the caliber option.  The replacement closure tab is in sound condition and seats nicely over the early war ball finial.
