Model 1860 Cavalry Saber - Inventory Number: SWO 252
Emerson & Silver U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sword, manufactured 1864 in Trenton, New Jersey. One side of the blade is marked “U.S./D.F.M./1864”. “DFM” are the initials of government inspector Dexter F. Mosman. The other side is marked “EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON N.J.”.
The overall condition is very good. The grip is wrapped with leather and wire, which is still tight. The leather pad beneath the guard is present. The original steel scabbard is in good condition with lots of wear on the drag, showing field use. A very good example of a Civil War Cavalry Saber!
