    Pair of Federal Infantry Buttons – From the Coco Collection Recovered in Gettysburg - Inventory Number: GET 499

    Infantry buttons with eagle. Recovered from McMillian Woods Gettysburg from the Gregory Coco Collection with handwritten documentation of location by Coco.

    The late Coco was a park ranger at Gettysburg deeply interested in the battle and what was left in its wake. The Vietnam veteran wrote eloquently and often about the carnage of war, its terrors and pain, its irreplaceable cost in human life and treasure, and the toll it took on the families who lost sons and husbands there.

    Federal infantry button, eagle with "I" in shield. Button was intended for infantry and depicts eagle with "I" in the shield, generally for officers. Both buttons retain shank on reverse.

    Comes housed in a 12 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
