Pewter Whistle - Inventory Number: MIS 237 / SOLD

This is a pewter alarm or battle whistle. Used by both sides and the Army and Navy. Officers needed something that would pierce the sound of battle to signal their troops.  Similar style whistles are pictured in literally every reference book on dug battlefield relics. This one is made of pewter.  Retains original pea. Inscribed with "TH".
