Collection of relics recovered at the “Diggin’ in Virginia” event at Hansbrough Ridge, Stevensburg, Virginia in October 2007. The ridge served as the winter encampment of the Army of the Potomac’s 2nd Corps from November 1863 to May 1864. The lot includes dropped, pulled, and fired Minie balls and type II Williams cleaner bullets, as well as a .44 pistol bullet and brass Spencer cartridges. Rubber blanket grommets, coat and cuff sized general service eagle buttons, and an accoutrement rivet make up the complement of brass artifacts. A nice assortment of relics from a significant Union winter encampment.
