Sheble & Fisher Model 1840 Cavalry Saber - Inventory Number: SWO 285
Model 1840 “wristbreaker” cavalry saber made by Sheble & Fisher of Philadelphia. One side of the ricasso has the arched maker’s mark “SHEBLE & FISHER / PHILADA.” The blade has an even, light gray patina with a clean, nick-free edge. The leather grip is in solid condition with full wire binding. The brass hilt has a medium patina and stamped with the number "10". The original leather washer is intact around the ricasso. The edge and point of the blade are in good condition. The top edge of the blade is stamped with "10". The steel scabbard has a smooth, even, plum brown patina with a matching number "10" on the drag. Overall, a fine example of a desirable maker.
