Stories of the Confederacy, edited by U.R. Brooks, printed in Columbia, South Carolina by The State Company in 1912. The 410-page, hardbound book consists of a collection of firsthand accounts of various battles and incidents from Confederate officers and soldiers, accompanied by photographic plates. The editor, Ulysses Robert Brooks, was a soldier in the 6th South Carolina Cavalry and future clerk of the Supreme Court of South Carolina. The book remains in good condition with some minor wear to the cover. A great collection of Confederate wartime accounts.
Ulysses Robert Brooks - Residence Barnwell County SC; 16 years old. Enlisted at Barnwell County, SC as a Private. He also had service in: "B" Co. SC 6th Cavalry. Other Information: Born 10/27/1846 in Barnwell County, SC. Died 12/16/1917 in Barnwell County, SC. (Parents: James Carroll & Sarah Crawford Robert Brooks. Post war Clerk of Supreme Court of SC)
