Tintype of Veteran from the War of 1812 - Inventory Number: HAR 206

Wonderful ½ plate tintype of Alexander Stanton – A veteran of the War of 1812 featured here wearing a double-breasted Civil War greatcoat and clutching a cane.  His distant stare and weathered face culminate his long journey.  Some minor bends and surface abrasions in the tin.  The identification is in period pencil on the back of the image along with a paper label which reads: Alexander Stanton – Born in 1777 father of Alice Stanton Boyden, Mass.  He is listed as serving in Captain Jesse Post's Company of Vermont Militia. Dixon’s Regiment. Georgia County, VT - War of 1812-14. Accompanied by cursory research on the soldier.

Comes housed in 8 x 14 riker display case with black velvet and descriptive card.
