Two Piece Virginia Buckle - Inventory Number: CON 509 / SOLD

Wonderful and unique example of a Civil War two-piece interlocking tongue and wreath belt plate fashioned from a sash buckle with applied Virginia state seal button of two-piece construction. The ornate belt keepers feature floral scrolls enveloping the state seal of Virginia with the motto “Virginia - Sic Semper Tarranis”. An absolutely original example and the first of this pattern we have encountered. Well, this could predate the Civil War the wax cast construction points to wartime product. An awesome addition to any confederate collection.

Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.
