This unique gavel was crafted using original White House wood and belonged to Cape May, NJ Court Judge Jonathan Woodnutt Acton, Jr.

The original pine wood was removed during President Harry S. Truman's ca. 1950 White House renovation. It was made from the Renovation Commission's "Kit No. 1 - Enough old pine to make a gavel."
