Pettinger went into camp September 10, 1862 sworn into the US service 16 September 62 left camp Lander for camp megs 4 December 62 left camp Migs for New York December 27, 1862 arrived at New York December 28 and went on board the Ship constellation the 29th 62. Left New York for fortress Monroe second day of Jan. 1863. Arrived at Fortress Monroe January 8, 1863 left fortress Monroe 14th for New Orleans. Arrived at the mouth of the Mississippi Jenn. 29th and arrived at the New Orleans February 1. Left New Orleans for Baton Rouge February 3. And arrived at B. Rouge fab. Fourth 1863 Port Hudson surrendered July 8, 1863.
Vicksburg surrendered July 4, 1863 Port Hudson surrender July 8, 1863 went on board the steamer sunny south August 9 and started for Home August 10 places that we came after leaving Baton Rouge:
