    This ornate commemorative ribbon was issued for the reunion of the Third New York Veteran Volunteer Cavalry, held on June 13, 1882, in Rochester, New York. The ribbon features a central printed image of a cavalryman on horseback, rendered in dark ink, symbolizing the mounted service of the regiment. Above the figure is the date “1861”—the year of the unit’s formation—and below are decorative red and black typographic elements that highlight the “REUNION” theme in bold, ornamental print.

    A luxurious gold fringe trims the bottom edge, indicating the celebratory and formal nature of the event. These types of ribbons were worn by veterans to show pride in their service and camaraderie with fellow soldiers.
