    Bible and Presbyterian Text ID’d to Hiram J. Fanus, Company “K” 1st Pennsylvania Reserves - Gettysburg - Inventory Number: HIS 116 / SOLD

    Pocket sized New Testament published in 1861 by the American Bible Society. An ink inscription of the first page reads “Hiram Fanus, from his nurse Ms. E.F. Russell. C.C. Hosp. Dec 7/61. Hiram J. Fanus (alternately spelled Fanns in the database) enlisted in June 1861 as a private in the 1st Pennsylvania Reserves (30th Pennsylvania Infantry). He was discharged for disability in March 1863. Accompanying the bible is another pocket-sized book, The Way of Salvation: Familiarly Explained In A Conversation Between A Father And His Children, printed in Philadelphia by the Presbyterian Board of Publication. The first page has the pencil inscription “Hiram J. Fanus.” A valued pair of texts carried by a Civil War soldier.  

    Hiram J. Fanns - Residence Adams County PA; Enlisted on 6/8/1861 as a Private. On 6/8/1861 he mustered into "K" Co. PA 30th Infantry. He was discharged for disability on 3/25/1863.
