Civil War Drummer’s Sling - Inventory Number: MUS 158 / SOLD
The drum sling, often referred to as a carriage or belt, goes either around the neck or over the shoulder to allow the drummer to carry the drum. While many mid-19th century armies use a clip or hook to attach the sling to the drum, early slings appear to use a knot. This is a classic Civil War example constructed of the same cotton webbing found on pre-war militia belts and cross-straps. The buckle is in working order with strong tension on spring. These are much scarcer than the drums themselves and would make a great addition to any drum or drumstick carriage buckle.
