Civil War Infantry Hat Insignia – 143rd Regiment, Hand-Embroidered Bullion Patch - Inventory Number: INS 418 / SOLD

This is a rare and finely crafted Civil War-era infantry hat insignia representing the 143rd Regiment of the Union Army. The patch features a detailed embroidered hunting horn in gold bullion thread, with the regiment number “143” prominently centered within the coil. The embroidery is set on a velvet background, bordered in fine metallic trim.

The reverse retains its original fastening hardware, including the wire loops and backing plate.  This type of insignia would have adorned a Union officer’s Hardee hat or forage cap, and was often custom-made or purchased privately.

A scarce and visually striking piece of Civil War military headgear insignia—especially desirable due to the intact hardware and regimental specificity.

Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.
