This small authentic Civil War officer’s sash buckle features the classic open-wreath design, cast in brass with beautiful, aged patina. Worn by Union officers as part of their dress or ceremonial uniforms, these buckles secured the silk officer’s sash—a symbol of rank and authority. This example includes the original keeper bar and displays detail consistent with battlefield or long-term field use. Excavated at Gettysburg.
