Civil War Regulation 1851 Eagle Sword Belt Plate – Numbered “678” – Inventory Number: BEL 574

Civil War-era Model 1851 Eagle Sword Belt Plate, featuring the iconic spread-wing eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, surrounded by a wreath—a symbol of Federal authority and strength.

Crafted in cast brass, this plate retains its original curved profile and rich, untouched patina. The back features the correct “puppy paw” belt hooks and keeper slot, and is clearly stamped with the number “678”, indicating early-war production and issue—typically for officers or elite enlisted personnel in the Union Army.

These sword belt plates were regulation issue for Union officers throughout the Civil War and were worn on a leather belt supporting a Model 1850 foot officer’s sword or staff & field sword.

Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
