Drummer’s Sling Buckle - Inventory Number: MUS 191
These clipped-corner rectangular breast plates with two cannon barrel like tubes were intended to hold a drummer’s drumsticks while mounted to a drummer’s sling. When not in use, the sticks would rest in each tube, freeing the hands of the musician. The reverse has double brass wire soldered in place to form three hooks that allowed for adjustment. This is a lovely example with a mellow patina. The drumstick tubes are affixed by two secure rivets each.
This is a scarce item that would pair well with any period drum for display or would make an excellent addition to any Civil War collection.
Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
