Sheet music written and composed by C. L. Peticolas and published by George Dunn & Company of Richmond, Virginia in 1864. The song celebrated General John Hunt Morgan’s raid into Indiana and Ohio in 1863. While a sensational story, the excursion did not significantly impact the Union’s ability to wage war and was a tactical loss for Morgan. The song was dedicated to the Officers and Privates under Morgan’s command. The sheet music consists of a single sheet of paper and measures 9 ½” by 12” folded. The paper has scattered foxing but is in good condition and has a partially legible ink inscription on the top right corner. A scarce piece of Confederate sheet music.
