“Private Property” Flask - Inventory Number: FIR 161 /SOLD
This rare flask was made under contract with James Baker of Philadelphia for the US Army in 1825-1827. 2000 were ordered and delivered in 1827. They were made in Europe and shipped to the U.S. The flask is made of heavy brass/copper like the 1843 N.P. Ames USN Flask. The top/spout is original on this flask that easily screws off to refill. The flask was ordered with the Public Property markings because previously unmarked flasks had a tendency to disappear from the army for personal use.
