Gettysburg Eagle Breast Plate – Inventory Number: GET 445 / SOLD Original eagle breast plate constructed of brass with lead fill.  This excavated plate was an early turn of the century recovery from the battlefield of Gettysburg and was part of a larger collection of items recovered from the field that we will be offering. This plate once adorned the cartridge box sling and retains both iron loops on the reverse.  The patina is a rich chocolate brown with a lead fill and showing oxidation, lacking the iron loops for attachment. The face has a well-defined eagle with traces of battlefield dirt highlighting the detail. This plate is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from our gallery attesting to its history. An excellent example of a Union brush plate, coupled with the history of being recovered at the battle, Gettysburg!  Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: GET 445 / SOLD
